Demonstrations of aquatic therapies and relaxation techniques

The Wellness Spa Experience swimming pool will be the venue for demonstrations of aquatic therapies (aquatic physiotherapy, Watsu, Ai Chi, Wellness Method) and relaxation techniques. These disciplines are becoming very popular for the excellent results they produce; they all have water as their common denominator.

An active relaxation technique based on body consciousness and movement.

In this workshop, participants become aware of their body and its movements based on the principles of body unity and the balance between muscular tension and relaxation, developing the ability to perceive the new sensations constantly being delivered by the environment (90 minutes).

Workshop given by María Alonso Fraile, a physiotherapist who specialises in Aquatic Therapy.

Experiencing the mechanics of water

This half-hour workshop is complementary to the theoretical presentation on the bases and foundations of aquatic therapy, in which participants will be able to experience the physical properties of water used in aquatic therapy to achieve therapeutic objectives such as hydrostatic thrust (buoyancy), the resistance of water to movement, metacentric effects, etc. (30 minutes)

Ai Chi

A programme of aquatic, relaxation and rehabilitation exercises that combine the best of yoga, the physical exercise of Aquagym, the flexibility and strength of Pilates, and the slow, flowing movements of Tai Chi. What sets the Ai Chi clinic apart is its specialised form of aquatic therapy.

Wellness Method®

The Wellness Method is a group practice (involving a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 25 people) which is held in spas and thermal centres and encompasses different types of activities aimed at increasing the general wellbeing of the individual. Based on Yoga Wellness®, it combines physical exercise, breathing and relaxation techniques both in and out of the water.

This workshop will be given by the creator of the Method, Cristina Pérez Rodríguez.

Watsu

Watsu is a combination of two words: water and Shiatsu (a millenary Japanese therapy that supports the body's natural healing process); in other words, Shiatsu in water. The therapy is conducted in swimming pools and encourages the individual to enter a profound state of relaxation, experiencing sensations that involve all the senses.

This technique will be demonstrated by Elena Villacieros Arangüena, a physiotherapist from Talaso Atlántico.

WaterDream

This is an exclusive experience involving the power of water and the technical combination of movements, stretching and underwater massage of the whole body, achieving a unique therapeutic effect together with an exceptional level of relaxation.
